Summer Fiber Construction Update
We continue to make good progress on our fiber construction this summer. With the construction season in full swing, our crews are hard at work, ensuring we bring the best internet service to your doorstep. Just a reminder that in addition to our technicians, you may see our contractors working in your area. We use the following contractors for field collection, engineering, line construction and buried service work: Eustis Cable Enterprises, JA McDonald, JSI, and Menard and Sons.
Our teams are making significant strides in running mainline fiber in many parts of our service area laying the foundation for enhanced connectivity. In addition to this, we are actively working on both aerial and buried customer drops, ensuring that every home and business can benefit from our high-speed internet services. Our technicians are also busy with installations, bringing fiber directly to your premises and ensuring a smooth, efficient process. While we can't reach everyone overnight, please know that every single dollar we invest in fiber is benefiting Vermont and the local communities we serve. Building fiber to everyone is going to take time, but each and every day, we are making progress.
- If you are included in one of our fiber build areas scheduled for this year, we will be reaching out to let you know that fiber is coming to your location as our construction progresses.
- In areas where we have completed mainline construction, our contractor crews are focused on pre-running fiber-optic drops to homes prior to us scheduling your fiber conversion.

What can you expect? Hurry up and wait... A lot goes into building a fiber-optic network and many things need to happen to build fiber to your location. This includes tree trimming, new pole sets, and other make-ready activities. The next step involves running strand and the mainline fiber cable, which is part of the fiber construction. This will also involve any sections of underground cable that are part of the design. Our crews then fusion splice everything together, install all of the electronics, splitter cabinets, and complete final network turn-up and testing. Once all of this is done, we will then begin running service drops and scheduling customer installations.
As you can see, these are large capital construction projects that have many moving parts. It can feel like a lifetime while you are waiting for your area to be converted. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to expand our fiber-optic network.
Thank you for being a valued Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom customer!
